Mixed Media Canvas

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing my first project as a new Design Team Member with Meg's Garden. I have decided to create a canvas. After seeing the papers, I felt inspired to create a vintage styled dress. The papers I am using are from the Correspondence Collection which are designed by Kerry-Jean Watson.

To create the background, I cut random strips of Tucson 1909 and French Account and glued them down with Mod Podge to the canvas. I then applied some stencils using modelling paste to add texture and also where the two papers joined. Once dry, I used different pink and brown mists and sprays to decorate.

To create the dress, I used French Account and Mademoiselle Louise. I made a paper mock up first to see if I could actually make it! I used a basic dress template to glue/attach each section onto as I constructed each section. The base section is 30cm x10cm and is just fan folded and attached using Scor tape.I also inked the edges to add definition to each section using a distress ink.

To create the ruffle/gathers, I cut 3 scallops and pinched them into shape. I then added bows and roses.

I used a distress ink to colour the centre of two of the flowers, just to add some colour.

These papers are just so versatile and I hope you have a chance to create with them.

Love This!

Hello everyone! As the weather has been so cold lately, I decided to get crafty and created this LO following a sketch from Sketchabilities.

Behind my layers of burlap and papers, I applied a thin layer of gesso and then using a baby wipe and more gesso, softened the outer edge. I then used a stencil with some distress ink to add some pattern.
Here is a close up of my sentiment. I added some cheese cloth behind it to add some texture.

I added some fibres from the cheese cloth behind the flowers to add some interest. I continued the stenciling around the cluster.

Supplies:

Paper: Kaisercraft Be-YOU-tiful Collection Glamourous, Amazing, Sweet, Splendid and Collectables.

Other: Distress Ink Pine Needles and Walnut Stain, Tim Holtz Spills and Splatters, Prima Stitch Stamps, Maya Road Mask, Kaisercraft Flowers Ivory and paper Blooms Buttercream, Hooked On Craft Roses, Cheese Cloth, Burlap.

Shabby Chic Card

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing another card with you. I've been busy using supplies that I've had in my stash for a while and it feels great! Sometimes you forget the hidden treasures that hidden away in the back of a drawer and it feels like Christmas! I've followed the sketch from Mojo Monday to complete this card as well.

I really liked this sketch. I pulled out some lace, pearls, flowers and printed an image from Pinterest to complete my card. I used a Martha Stewart border punch to create the decorative border to frame my card. I used foam to add dimension to the image as well as to the pink centre panel.

Supplies:

My Minds Eye London Market, Martha Stewart Vintage Doily, Prima Le Mia Flowers, Green Tara Roses, Hug Snug Seam Binding Lyric Rose, Kaisercraft Pearl Flourish, Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles.

Celebrate The Moments of Your Life and an Explosion Box

Hello everyone! Today I would like to share two projects that I have created as part of my entry into the Maja Designs June Mood Board competition.

I have pondered over this for a little while and I finally came up with something....a card and an exploding box. I have made exploding boxes in the past but I wanted to tackle a cake!! I have a lot of photos to share, so I explain things as I go.

I really like the sentiment of this stamp....it's vintage and I liked the message. I used a tag from on of the papers as I liked the image of the elegant lady. I just added some lace and foam tape to add some dimension.

The front of the box uses the same paper as the card. I initially made the box first, then the cake and finally the card. I just loved this collection of papers.

I really liked this quote and used it on one of the panels. It fits in well with the mood board theme.
Here is a close up of the cake. I had purchased a file on how to make one, but I adapted it when I made a mock one. I used Spellbinder circle dies and tweaked the instructions to fit my designs. The left over cake papers were used to create the hearts on the other panels of the box. I added flowers, pearls. lace and die cut leaves to embellish.

It took a while to get here but I had a lot of fun along the way!

Paper: Maja Designs Vintage Autumn and Vintage Summer
