Hello everyone! JustRite Stampers latest Friday challenge is a colour challenge. Grey, charcoal, yellow and a neutral...not my prefered colours but I thought I'd see how I'd go and took on the challenge.
I thought that I would make a bird cage card and it was here that I started. I pulled out any paper in my stash that was grey or yellow and went from there. I played around with them and found that a thin mat between each layer held the design together. I started with my darkest grey and used it for the bird cage. Next I used a labels twenty die and die cut it with a grey striped paper to create a frame for the bird cage.
I used a Martha Stewart punch and old olive paper and punched out several branches (looks grey in my photo). I used some glossy accents to adhere it to the base of the cage. I stamped the circular butterfly image onto watercolour paper and used SU yoyo yellow to colour it in. I went around the outside of the image with a distress ink to add a vintage touch. Using some scraps of paper, I used a bitty blossom die to create a grey flower. I added some yellow roses to finish it off.
Here are some other close ups...
Supplies:
Paper: Stampin' Up! Yoyo yellow, old olive and DSP patterns stack brights collection, My Minds Eye Nostalgia, Kaisercraft After Five Collection
Stamp: JustRite Stampers Botanical Butterflies
Ink: Antique Linen distress ink, Memento tuxedo black, StazOn Jet Black
Other: Spellbinders bitty blossoms, standard circles small, back to basics tags and labels twenty, Tim Holtz Caged Bird, Martha Stewart branch punch, Hooked on Craft flowers, My Minds Eye twine, ribbon, Becca's peg bow maker.
Thanks for stopping by!
