Inspire Canvas ~Maja Design ~ January Mood Board ~

Happy New Year! Hello everyone everyone. I hope that you are well and have been having a safe and festive holiday season with your friends and and family. Today I am very excited to share my first project of the year as a member of Maja Design Creative Team. As you know Maja Design have wonderful papers that are vintage inspired and also are beautiful to create/work with.

This Mood Board is a bit different from how they usually are.. Marie is very fond of making mood boards herself. For every new collection she re-decorates her desk (or more the whole office.. ;-)) into a mood board that gives her the right "feeling".

She found this text online and came up with the idea to challenge everyone else to create their own personal mood board. The theme in the post will be something like "make something beautiful to inspire YOU in your creative work.."

It could be a canvas to hang on the wall, or a scrapbook page to frame, or.. whatever you can come up with... Use warm or cold (or mix) neutrals as a base and then add the colour(s) you find beautiful. Maybe add an image of someone who inspires you, or some wise words that are meaningful to you...

I have created a canvas as my inspiration project for the January Mood Board. I used the neutral tones as my base then added pink as a colour for further inspiration. It is also a colour a love to work with.

It took me a few days to come up with my ideas for my project. This photo is actually a photo from my garden. This is in my backyard. I had been thinking of something to incorporate all of my interests for this project, something that will inspire me in everything. As I am a primary school teacher, literacy is a major interest of mine and a subject that I love to teach. I also find a lot of inspiration from nature. I love flowers. I spend a lot of time in my garden (when I can) and sadly I will have to say goodbye to this garden as I have to move in the next month as my property has been sold :( This photo became my starting point for the elements of my canvas.

I selected this quote as often I create things for a purpose... a card...an album...a quilt. I have a lot of pleasure in giving someone something that I have made just for them! The resin frame is in keeping with garden ornament and it frames the quote perfectly.
The above quote refers to goals that I set. Each year I set creative challenges for myself. Being part of this Creative Team is certainly a dream come true!!
These sewing charms represent my creative abilities. While I don't sew as much as I used to, it represents my paper crafting.

I chose my title to be inspire as I thought it would be the appropriate. It changed a few times but it summarised the canvas and everything that I wanted to be reminded of.

I have always loved vintage clocks. This section is all about time and just a reminder that this inspiration is also timeless.

I haven't shared any techniques with you but rather the meaning of my canvas mood board. I hope that you'll feel inspired to create your own mood board to help you kick start the new year. If you would like to join in the fun, stop by the Maja Design blog and see what the other Creative Team have shared.
