Cherry Blossom Trees Using Cotton Buds

Hello everyone! I hope that you are well. Today I am sharing a technique that I have been keen to try and that is to use cotton buds to paint with. I plan on teaching this technique to my students when school goes back and I thought I better have a go before they do!

I discovered that by starting in a landscape orientation, I had more success in having a more realistic proportion to my tree! I started painting thinking I would have a branch, but I ended up with a tree. I was just enjoying the process.

I used a deeper brown to add shadows. I feel this tree was better than my previous. I also like how my branches ended up with this one...however it's all about the process sometimes.

Below is a tutorial showing how I created my Cherry Blossom Trees.

Supplies:
Kaisercraft Paint: White, Pretty Pink and Hot Pink, Prima Watercolour Confections Pastel Dreams, Strathmore Watercolour Paper Cold Press, Mont Marte Watercolour Brush Set, Scotch Painters Tape, Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer, Cotton Buds.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
