Thailand

Hello everyone! I hope that you are all enjoying your weekend. The weather this weekend has just been perfect in Sydney. I am so thankful that now I am on holidays that I can take the time to enjoy it. Last year I was fortunate enough to enjoy an amazing holiday to Thailand and Singapore. I had some of the most amazing experiences and have many fond memories.....BUT have not spent enough time capturing them as scrapbook layouts. When I saw the challenge from Once Upon a Sketch I immediately saw the opportunity to get one done.

Theme:  Best day of your life

I selected a photo of a day where I went trekking. We saw and experienced so many fantastic things that day. I actually got to feed some elephants!
I went through my flowers and I pulled out a number of Manorhouse Collection flowers. The large blue flower is one which I have been holding onto with the intention of using it for a page from this trip.

I used some chippies from Dusty Attic. I applied a coat of gesso and inked the edges using some ink. I also used a stencil. I used the same ink to apply it to my background paper.

Supplies:

Paper: Maja Design Vintage Summer Basics 1916 and 1943, Kaisercraft latte

Ink: Walnut stain distress ink

Other: Scallop edge scissors, The Crafters Workshop trendy bracket, Dusty Attic chicken wire ans scroll border, Martha Stewart monarch butterfly punch, Manor House Creations rose leaves, Magestic Gemma, Wishes serenity light blue and Cottage garden picket fence, Kaisercraft paper blooms, seam binding, Prima alphabet stickers, Distrezz it All

Shabby Flowers

Hello everyone! I am so excited at the moment...school holidays!!! After collapsing with exhaustion yesterday (and also with the aid of a nanna nap) I created this card. It follows the latest challenge from The Shabby Tea Room.

You are asked to create a card or project inspired by the COLORS and THEME of the photo and make it SHABBY!

I started by looking for some shabby/worn looking papers in my stash. I have some papers that looked like weathered wood and yes I found some blue! I imagined a frame to showcase the flowers. I recently bought this Sizzix frame and liked how the centre is cut out when you run the die through your machine. I attached it with some foam tape to the background to add dimension. I then cut some foliage and punched out some branches in a contrasting green (scraps come in handy for this). I added my flowers, starting with the largest and moving to the smallest.

I stamped my sentiment, inked it and again attached it using foam tape. Some pearls finish this element. This card wasn't complicated as I wanted the flowers to be the main focus. I really enjoyed making this card!

Supplies:

Paper: Grant Archival Scrappy Chic, Stampin' Up! crumb cake, whisper white, old olive and bashful blue

Stamp: Stampin' Up! teeny tiny sentiments

Ink: Walnut stain distress ink, Memento tuxedo black

Other: Sizzix Fancy oval frame framelit, Spellbinders foliage and fancy framed tags one. Martha Stewart branch punch, Hooked on Craft flowers, Distrezz It All, Kaisercraft pearls.

Thanks for stopping by!

Smile Everyday

Hello everyone! I managed to finish my school work a little bit earlier than usual and I used my extra time to create a card. My card follows the latest sketch from Mojo Monday and the design challenge at The Ribbon Reel.

You are asked to create a card / project using Use ONE solid paper and TWO pattern papers plus RIBBON & TWINE.

I really liked the sketch and had an idea of using a cameo, so I was already feeling a bit vintage at this point. I went through my papers and liked the combinations of designs in my My Mind's Eye paper pad and decided to go with a pink/brown colour combo.

My centre image has a lovely dress form which features on one of the papers. There are some lovely damask patterned papers in this collection. I selected the newsprint/pink as my background and a subtle taupe damask in the square panel. My fish tails feature the front and backs of the left over papers (nothing goes to waste!) It is handy to have a general purpose card in my stash, ready for unexpected occasions.

Supplies:

Paper: My Minds Eye Lost and Found and Blush paper pad, Stampin' Up! melon mambo, Kaisercraft coffee bean

Other: Spellbinders opulent ovals, Hug Snug pink aster seam binding, Kaisercraft mini alpha stickers, Hooked on Craft flowers, Scrapware book plate chippie, Walnut stain distress ink and stain, Becca's peg bow maker, twine.

Thanks for stopping by!

Shabby Chic ~ Love ~

Hello everyone! I hope that everyone is well. I have a card to share with you that follows the latest sketch from Mojo Monday and also the inspiration photo from The Shabby Tea Room.

You are asked to you create a card or project inspired by photo using Blue, White (or cream) Kraft and include a sentiment!

I started by stamping my centre image. I used my Stampin' Up! markers to colour this in. I also wanted to use my Spellbinders labels four dies, so I started to layer by using the Imperial Gold labels four die, then a nestabilities four die. I traced around this die and selected a coordinating paper to back the patterned paper. I used foam tape in between each layer to add dimension.

Supplies:

Stamp: JustRite Shabby Chic labels four

Ink: Stampin' Up! markers, StazOn jet black, Memento tuxedo black, antique linen distress ink

Paper: Stampin' Up! very vanilla and crumb cake (kraft), My Minds Eye Lost and Found and Portobello Road paper pad

On Your Special Day

Hello everyone! I have a card to share with you for the latest challenge from The Shabby Tea Room.
The theme is Lovely Layers. This week there is a sketch as well as a photo inspiration. You are asked to
create a card or project inspired by the colors in the photo, use the sketch and include lots of layers!

The inspiration from the DT is just amazing! When I saw the challenge, I was very excited and inspired.

My centre image is a stamped flower. I stamped into some SU! watercolour paper and used my SU! markers to colour it in. I used some distress ink to shade the outside of the image to give it a vintage look. I used two of the Opulent Oval dies from Spellbinder to frame it. I also added a doily and two die cut scrolls at each corner to frame it.

I used papers from Maja Designs. I distressed the edges and layered them with a pink cardstock. I also added some lace and seam binding to create the horizontal border, beneath the stamped flower section. To finish my card, I stamped a sentiment and added some flowers.

Supplies:

Paper: Maja Designs Vintage Summer Basic

Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Old Paper distress ink, SU! markers, memento Tuxedo Black

Stamp: JustRite Botannical Medallions and Banners

Other: Spellbinders Opulent Ovals, Memeory Box Elegant Scrollwork, JustRite Vintage Label and banner dies, Hug Snug lyric rose seam binding, Vivaldi rose, Green Tara roses, doily, lace, Zutter Distrezz It All.

Heartfelt Thanks

Hello everyone! I have a card to share with you that follows the latest sketch from Cardabilities.

I have had a bit of a craft spending spree, so my design was influenced by my new goodies!

I started by creating a 6x6" card base. Using a Martha Stewart punch I created a mat. I inked and stitched the edge of my pink striped paper. Using a floral paper I created a banner and a created a border for it that was approx 1/4" larger and inked and stitched again. Then I started to layer. I used some Memory Box flourish dies to back my Spellbinder hearts. I added some flowers and a beautiful Spellbinder butterfly (Les Papillions Two). My horizontal strip consists of 4 layers - Martha Stewart embroidery punch, doily lace punch, lace and then some seam binding.

I added a sentiment as well. I inked the edge to continue the aged look.

Supplies:

Paper: Stampin' Up! Very Vanilla, Kaisercraft ballet, My Minds Eye Lost and Found Market - Market Market paper pad

Stamp: JustRite Stampers Just Because Set

Ink: Versafine vintage sepia, Antique Linen distress ink

Other: Martha Stewart doily lace, embroidery and flourish lace punches, Memory Box Quinn flourish and Elegant scrollwork, Spellbinders fancy framed tags one, Les Papillions Two (butterfly), classic hearts and classic scalloped hearts, Hooked on Craft flowers, Kaisercraft pearls, Hug Snug lyric rose seam binding, lace.

Be sure to visit the other DT for some inspiration and I hope that you'll join in. Remember to link back to Cardabilities.

May you have a safe and wonderful Easter with your loved ones. Stay safe.

Thanks for stopping by!

Spring

Hello everyone. I am sharing a new card with you that is spring inspired. I recently purchased some Maja Design papers and I just absolutely love them! I am also loving my Martha Stewart punch as well, I've used it a lot lately...some people love shoes...me craft products of any kind!

When you are stuck for ideas or you need some new inspiration, the challenges on various blogs are fantastic to help you get going. I also like how you have to think and sometimes try something new. My card today follows the criteria for three challenges which are...

The sketch is from Mojo Monday...
the colours and elements follow The Ribbon Reel...
create a card / project using the PINK, YELLOW & AQUA plus  RIBBON & A FLOWER.

and the theme is from JustRite Friday Challenge   "Suddenly Spring."

To create my horizontal border, I stamped and embossed using one of JustRite's border stamps. I used the front and back of a patterned paper and added some lace (I replaced the ribbon with lace).

For the banner, I used one of the pink Maja Designs papers and topped it with one of my laser cut border. I trimmed of parts of it so that it could fit nicely onto the banner. Next I added some flowers.....TTR askes for some yellow, so I added a yellow butterfly, flowers and a flourish. The butterfly also really refers to spring to me as well.

Supplies:

Paper: Maja Designs Vintage Summer Basics 1933 and 1922, Stampin' Up! so saffron and whisper white, Kaisercraft duck egg

Stamps: JustRite Let Friendship Bloom and Classic scallop borders one

Ink: Victorian velvet distress ink, Versamark

Other: Art Stamps Australia filigree laser cut border, Spellbinders picot edge circles, standard circles one, classic scallop , Memory Box elegant scrollwork, Cheery Lynn small exotic butterfly, Hooked on Craft flowers, Martha Stewart flourish lace punch, lace, Stampin' Up! white embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by!
