Mixed Media Canvas

Hello everyone. Today I am sharing with you my first ever attempt at a mixed media canvas. In the last couple of days, I haven't been in the mood to create anything. Didn't feel making a card or a layout...mojo gone! I watched some craft videos that I have saved and I watched some She Art tutorials. After watching the Christy Tomlinson Mixed Media Collage: She Art (tease to she art class) & Somerset Studios Project I felt motivated! The techniques I tried out are found in her tutorial. If you would like to watch the tutorial, click here.

I have been a fan of the She Art style for a little while now. I love the freedom to explore and the textures and different materials that you can implement into your design. For my project, I pulled out lots of things that have been stored away for a long time....rub ons, scrap papers and my latest additions some stencils (new and old). I tend to be an impulsive craft shopper. If I see something I'll buy it and may not use it for 6-12 months or even longer! Most of the products that I used are by Kaisercraft. I have some bits and pieces of papers from past collections that I haven't used and saw this as a way of using them.

Here is my take on the girl....

Here are some other close ups...

This quote was from older rubon range from Kaisercraft. I rubbed sections of the quote onto some scraps from the project, cut it out, applied paint around the edge and doodled with a black felt tip pen.

Supplies:

Paper: Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings and Sweet Nothings 6 1/2" paper pad

Ink: Versafine deep lagoon and satin red, SatzOn jet black, Memento grape jelly

Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps Chicken wire, Kaisercraft Duchess Collection and bubble wrap Tim Holtz spills and splatters

Rubons: Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings, white flourish corners, Kaisercraft basics life quotes and friend
quotes, American Crafts mini marks

Other: Kaisercraft paints, heritage green, orange, pale beige, sea breeze, pretty pink, raw umber, white and red, Kaisercraft doily stencil, The Crafters Workshop paisley swirl, honeycomb mesh, bubble wrap, mod podge, texture paste, Stampin' Up! heat tool, Kaisercraft paint brushes.

Handbag and Card

Hello everyone! I am sharing another project with you that I have designed for The Shabby Tea Room.

The theme for week #149 is  ‘Antique Roses’ . You are asked to create a card/project inspired by colors from pic, and to include a rose/flower and fabric/ribbon.

I love the look of this bag and wanted to make one as well. I used a free handbag template which you can download here

After I printed the template onto cardstock,  I placed it onto my Scorpal. Using a stylus I began creating an embossed grid pattern. My grid measures one inch. After I completed all of the scor lines, I inked up an ink blending tool with distress ink and went over the entire project to highlight all of the grid lines.

While the project was still flat, I began to embellish. I used some lace, flowers, seam binding and cheese cloth. I then assembled the bag, added an embossed handle and attached it to the project using eyelets.

I repeated the grid pattern for the card and repeated the inking process that I used on the handbag. I repeated some of the same embellishments as well. I stamped a sentiment, framed it and used foam tape between each layer.

Supplies:

Paper: Stampin' Up! whisper white, Kaisercraft musk

Ink: Distress ink old paper, Versafine vintage sepia, Momento angel pink

Stamp: JustRite stampers Botannical Medallions and Banners

Other: Spellbinders foliage and classic ovals small, Die-namics fancy flourish, JR nested oval medallion labels, Spellbinders m-bossabilities garden lattice, Martha Stewart doily lace punch, ScorPal, Prima flower, lace, seam binding and cheese cloth.

I hope that you'll give this a try!

Smile

Hello again. I am sharing a card with you that follows a sketch from Mojo Monday.

For this card, I really wanted to do some colouring. I selected a floral stamp from JustRite and I used my Stampin' Write markers and a blender pen to colour in the image.

After that, I stamped a frame and added a doily. I used foam tape between each layer to add some dimension.
I used some lace to form the top border. I die cut two flourishes, added some flowers as well as a sentiment.

Supplies:

Stamp: JustRite Medallions and Banners and Vintage Rose Medallions

Ink: Stampin' Write markers subtles collection, StazOn Jet Black, Distress ink Victorian Velvet

Paper: Stampin' Up! watercolour paper, Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings paper pad

Other: Spellbinders nestabilities classic ovals small and lacey ovals, Die-namics fancy flourish, Hooked on Craft flowers, Fiskars 1.5" tag punch, lace and paper doily

Let's Celebrate

Hello everyone! I am sharing a Shabby Chic card with you today that I created following the challenge from The Shabby Tea Room. You are asked to create a card or project inspired by the photo using PINK, AQUA, WHITE/CREAM and GLITTER!

Well, I wanted to try a technique for making flowers. I created the pink chiffon flower that you can see in my card. I die cut 6 circles, cut between 4-5 times into each to create petals. I then held each circle above a candle and it curls the edge. I finished the flowers by die cutting a small circle out of felt, securing all layers with a few stitches and then completing it by adding a silver centre. So easy to do and so pretty!

Here are some more close ups.....

Supplies:

Paper: Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings Paper pad, Kaisercard musk and coconut, DCWV brights stack

Stamp: JustRite Stampers Just Because set and elegant frames

Ink: Stampin' Up! Pool Party, Momento tuxedo black

Other: Spellbinders classic ovals small, floral ovals, scalloped ovals large, standard circles large and fancy framed tags one, Die-namics vintage flourish, Memory Box Amira flourish, Martha Stewart monarch butterfly punch, Prima flowers, Kaisercraft mini paper blooms, Zva Creative pearl flourish, chiffon, jewel centre and lace.

To inspire you...

What a week! I haven't been this sick for a long time. It's boring resting on the couch when you are unwell, so I managed to drag myself up to join in the The Shabby Tea Room's challenge for this week. The theme is For The Love of Books' You are asked to create a card or project inspired by the photo USING CREAM, AQUA, PINK and NEWSPRINT!

I knew I had some die cut shapes left over from a Kaisercraft collection, and lucky for me I still had the stack of books. Once I found it I was able to build my card around it.

I did a lot of machine stitching on this card and inked the edges lightly to give a vintage effect.
My title/sentiment is a rub on. I thought that it summarised what books can mean to many people.
My card looks a bit blue?? when in fact it is a deeper aqua. Anyway, this card helped me take my mind off from being unwell for a short time.

Supplies:

Paper: Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings paper pad and Timeless Collection

Ink: Distress ink walnut stain

Other: Spellbinders nestabilities classic squares small, eyelet squares and classic circles small, kaisercraft Sweet othings die cuts, paper bloom, flourish and rub on, Hooked on Craft flowers, lace, Stampin' Up! seam binding baja breeze, Bow easy.

Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Wishes

Hi everyone. I’m back again and am sharing my latest take on the Waltzingmouse challenge.

I am also including this card in another challenge with Hooked on Craft which asks for a project to have more than one fold. Immediately I knew that I wanted to create an easel card.

I used the cameo stamp to create part of the main focal image. I used a wooden ornate frame to complete it teamed with the some die cut elements. I also masked the journal stamp from the Victorian Frippery stamp set to use the image as a border stamp.

I stamped a sentiment from the Fancy Phrases set onto another die cut.

 Another view of the card.

Another example of the Victorian frippery stamp used as a border stamp.

Supplies:

Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps Cameo to Go, Victorian Frippery and Fancy Phrases.

Ink: Versafine onyx black, Distress ink Old linen

Paper: Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings and vanilla weave

Other: Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings collectables, wood flourish frame, mini paper bloom and pearls, Green tara flowers, Spellbinders Nestabilities classic ovals small.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet Nothings

This is a layout I have completed following the Kaisercraft Saturday sketch #2.

I used the square die cut paper as the main background. I selected the lamp post wooden flourish and painted it white. Using two strips of adhesive pearls, I wrapped them around the lamp post. I attached some butterflies, mini blooms and the blue birds from the adhesive sheet.

To complete the corner embellishment cluster, I used die cut elements from the paper pad.

The simple journaling just finishes the layout.

Supplies:

Paper: Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings collection, 6 ½” paper pad and rub ons

Other: Kaisercraft wooden flourish twin lamp post, Kaisercraft mini paper blooms coconut, fairy floss and iceberg, Kaisercraft paper blooms sea breeze, Kaisercraft pearls, Martha Stewart paper doily, American Thickers subway alpha stickers.

I love floral vines! Using the Kaisercraft paper blooms, I created a vine and attached it with glue dots. I also added the wooden fob watch, to add a vintage element to the layout.

I fussy cut some flowers and applied foam tape to add some dimension. I used a rub on sentiment to the die cut tag.

Ink: Distress Ink Tattered Rose
Other: Martha Stewart punch around the page eyelet lace, Kaisercraft Memories rubons, Kaisercraft Madame Boutique collectables, Kaisercraft paper blooms honey and ruby, Kaisercraft mini paper blooms coconut, Prima Flowers parchment petals antique, The Roosevelt Collection Eleanor, Prima alphabet stickers, Green Tara flowers, Kaisercraft wooden fob watch.
