Vintage Mini Album - Timeless

Hello friends! It's Cathy here and I hope that you are all well. Today I would like to share with you my very first mini album, created using a mini book kit from Meg's Garden which is designed by Kerry-Jean Watson. The Sherlock Book is available in a physical format as well as a digital download. These papers have everything you need.

The style is vintage, and the papers are so versatile that you can adapt them to suit any occassion. You can also embellish with metal trinkets, cogs and other vintage embellishments, also available from Meg's Garden to suit the theme of your album. I have also used chipboard pieces and altered them to suit the vintage nature of my album.

I inked all of my chipboard pieces with a dark chalk ink, then randomly applied distressed metallic paint over them. Once dry I then applied a medium layer of crackle medium over the entire piece and let it air dry which left a fine crack all over.

Here are some close ups ...

I have a video tutorial showing how I constructed my album and my initial planning process. As it was my first album, I had looked at many tutorials on the internet and found that this particular method worked for me. I also share my finished album and go through each page.

Baby Boy Mini Album Using Project Life Cards ~ Plus a Video Walk Through ~

Hello everyone! It's been a little while since I've posted but I have been busy creating and brushing up on some video skills. I've been creating mini albums and today I would like to share one with you. I've also been making videos to accompany them which takes a little while to do. So far I've made three which I will be sharing with you shortly.

This is an album that I've made using Project Life Cards. Kaisercraft calls them Captured Memeories. They are fantastic to use in mini albums. In the video you'll see why. To create my album I've used 12x12 papers, the paper pad, the collectables and both sets of the captured memories cards. They are difficult to photograph, hence the video.

Inside the front cover, I have created a large pocket to add some of the 3x4 cards. They offer spaces for photos as well as journaling.

I have pockets to add tags etc and any additional photos and keepsakes.

Enjoy the video and I hope that you'll give this a try.

Supplies:

Kaisercraft Products: Pitter Patter Collection : 12 x 12 papers, Pitter Patter Paper Pad, Pitter Patter Collectables, Captured Moments Rock-a-Bye-Baby-Boy 3x4” Journal cards, Captured Moments Rock-a-Bye-Baby-Boy 6x8” Journal cards

Ink: Kaisercraft Ink Pad Island, Versafine Onxy Black, SU! Pool Party

Something Vintage and Something Shabby

Hello everyone! I hope that everyone is well today. As my title suggests, I have something vintage and some shabby to share with you. I am using two collections, both designed by Kerry-Jean Watson. The above layout 'Laugh' uses papers from The Gentlemen Collection which you can purchase from Meg's Garden. I created a masculine themed layout using this collection and yes, I do incorporate flowers into them!

The photo is of my brother when he was little and I just love it! I added some extra stamping, some script stamps and splatter stamps once I had worked out the position off my elements. I fussy cut some of the ephemera elements and also die cut some banners. I inked the edges of these using dark brown ink to add definition to them. I also tucked in some trinkets, hemp and some Dusty Attic cogs which I also coloured in using chalk ink.

Hint: I keep left over cardboard packaging. I cut off small strips and glue it to the back of my photos so that I can tuck in embellishments. Using foam tape didn't give me as much height to add last minute fibres or embellishments.

I also fussy cut this element from one of the papers and die cut the banner. I used a chalk ink to colour in this chipboard title. I also used foam tape to add dimension.

Supplies from Meg's Garden

A Gentleman's Bike
A Gentleman's Ephemera P6413 and P6413A
A Gentleman's Automobile
Dusty Attic Mini Cogs
Oatmeal Coloured Flowers

Other: The Dusty Attic Dusty in Bloom Smokey Blue,  Prima Chalk Ink Dark Bark, Memento Rich Cocoa, Bobunny Midnight Frost Clear Stamp, Tim Holtz Spills and Splatters, Kaisercraft Duchess, Twine, Hemp, Scrapmatts Assorted Words, Spellbinders Foliage, Green Tara Cherry Blossoms, JustRite Label and Banner Dies, Watch Tinket and Charms.

"Love"

My second project is a shabby chic card. I am using one of the papers from The Correspondence Collection mini pack. All of the papers have a neutral background, which make them perfect to personalise for any special occassion.

I love using die cuts in my cards. I created on open heart and added clusters of flowers. I also used some lace to compliment the lace featured in the paper. I added some flat back pearls which I had in my stash for some bling. I stamped my sentiment onto a tag and attached it using some foam tape again for some dimension.

Other: JustRite Just the Right Words stamp, Memento Tuexedo Black, Kaisercraft Pearls Rose, Pearl Flat Back, Spellbinders Foliage, Twisted Metal Tags and Accents, Classic Hearts, Classic Scalloped Hearts and Back to Basics Tags, Key Charm, and Hemp.

Captured

Hello friends! I hope that you are all well. Today I am sharing a layout that I have completed following the sketch below from Once Upon a Sketch.

Well, this layout started off with a bad start. I was playing around with some background textures and it looked terrible!! Nearly made the bin but then my dear friend gesso stepped in and saved the day! I am at the moment looking back  fondly at places I have been too and am starting a mental bucket list of places I want to go to. It is in Southern France and was a fortified city. Inside are shops, hotels and oodles of historical features that take your breath away.

As I had a travel theme, I die cut some tags and also used some transparent tape that had travel marks to compliment my theme. I also have a film strip die and I used it to add some extra layers to my photos.

My second photo arrangement is similar to the first, but without the tags, it allowed me to insert my journalling and title.

Supplies:

Maja Designs Vintage Autumn Basics, Kaisercraft Printed Tape Timeless and mini paper blooms honey, Prima dark bark chalk ink, Prima stitch stamp, Prima flowers Layla, Doily, Scrapmatts Assorted words, My Favourite Things Stencils checkerboard, Martha Stewart Rose leaf punch, Memento tuxedo black, Die-namics pierced traditional tag stax and mini film strip, Lindy's Stamp Gang starburst milk chocolate brown, LSG moon shadow mist bucanner bronze, Tattered Angels crushed shells, Mister Hueys opaque white.

Time to Celebrate

Hello everyone. Today I am sharing a card with you that follows the latest sketch from Cardabilities.

I chose some lovely papers from Maja Designs to work with and that determined my embellishments. I created my own cherry blossom flowers this week, following a tutorial which you can see here. I used La La Land cherry blossom dies, watercolour paper, flower stamens, and dried marigold and scattered straw distress inks to create them. I also used  ta Heartfelt Creations die to frame them as well. I love the lattice design that is so delicate in this die cut.

I inked all of my papers using brown distress to make them stand out. I also added some butterflies that are a favourite embellishment of mine!

Supplies:

Paper: Maja Designs Vintage Spring Basics

Ink: Distress Inks Walnut Stain, Dried Marigold and Scattered Straw

Other: Spellbinders foliage and fancy framed tags one, Die-namics fishtail flags stax, La La Land Crafts Cherry Blossom Flowers, Memento Rich Cocoa, , Heartfelt Creations Timeless Armour, Martha Stewart Mini Daisy Punch, Lace, Hemp, Kaisercraft Pearls.
