Slimline Card

Hello everyone. I hope that you are keeping safe and well. It has been a little while since I've shared a project with you, but with the challenges of Covid affecting shipping, Kaisercraft have experienced problems in receiving product. I am glad to be able to share a slimline card with you, using the Le Belle Collection. Its vintage and gorgeous.

I have enjoyed creating cards using slimline dimensions. I use 9" x 4" for my card base.

For the focal area of my card, I have used a birdcage and butterfly from the collectables. I fussy cut some flowers from Garden (reverse) to add to the base of the cage. I then altered some paper blooms to add dimension and also add a vintage feel to the card.

As I had chosen a slimline card as my card design, I could take advantage of the extra length of the card front. I used a variety of fishtails created from dies from my stash and adhered them using glue and foam tape to add dimension.

To all of my fellow Sydney friends, I hope the current lockdown has not been too difficult for you and that you are all safe and well.

Take good care.

Sew By Row

Hello everyone! I hope that you are safe and well. I have taken advantage of our lockdown in Sydney and have finished my Lori Holt Sew By Row cross stitch. I absolutely love how this has turned out and can't wait to frame it and place it 'somewhere' in my house. I follow the Fat Quarter Shop on Youtube which is where I saw this and then I purchase the pdf pattern at the beginning of the year and now it is no longer a WIP but a finish!

Here are some close ups...

Take good care.

Blessed

Hello everyone! I hope that you are well. I am sharing a layout that I have created using the Flowering Natives Collection from Kaisercraft. It has beautiful native florals in this collection. I decided to take it in a vintage direction with my layout.

I distressed the edges of my papers and inked them with vintage photo distress ink. I also used stamping and stencils to add textures in my background. I applied some of the vintage photo distress ink to my paper to dull it. When I did this, it reminded me of faded wallpaper.

I cut up a sentiment from the base of a paper and inked the edges and used it on my layout. I felt it complimented the sentiment. To add more vintage feel to my layout, I added some ink splatters once complete.

Birthday Wishes

Hello everyone! It's been a very long while but I am very happy to be able to share a birthday card with you today. It's using paper from Kaisercraft's new release Lilac Mist.

To create my card, I wanted to showcase lots of the papers as I had a difficult time deciding which ones I wanted to use as I liked them all. To help me in my design decision, I pulled out of the paper pad some papers that were my first choice - which were four! Next I went to Pinterest and had a look at the card sketches. I often do this to kick start my ideas and then I found a sketch that appealed to me. This sketch would enable me to showcase the papers I selected plus provide me with some options in my composition.

My take on the sketch....

To get the dimensions of the smaller squares, I just cut out scrap paper and played around with them until I was happy with everything.

Once my papers were positioned, I embellished with flowers and dies from previous releases.

Mini Quilt

Hello everyone! I hope that you are well. As Kaisercraft is having shipping delays with their products, it has given me the opportunity to dabble in some of my other crafting hobbies that I haven't had the time to do in ages...one which is quilting! I have been a fan of Lori Holt for a while and she has a Youtube channel where she shares tutorials for various crafts. She has a series called #sewyourstashseries where she shares quilt blocks that enable you to do just that. This block was a way back into quilting for me...nothing too big and something I could finish.

This is my completed quilt. This is from the Sew Your Stash Series #6 and it was so much fun! I only had to purchase some background fabric (only a little bit..the rest I already had) and I could mix and match as I went.

To complete my quilt, I did some straight line quilting in a grid pattern to finish it off.

Stay safe and well

With Sympathy Card

Happy New Year! This is my first post of the new year but sadly I am posting a sympathy card. These are the cards I find hardest to make. I try to consider the recipients and how they will receive the card. I went with an elegant style as I felt it would be would be appropriate.

I used Spellbinder frames and layered flowers to compliment my papers. I also added a butterfly as a symbol of hope.
I did some stamping on the inside of the card. I had a sympathy stamp set that had some sentiments.

Supplies:

Paper: Kaisercraft Amethyst Collection: Paper Pad PP1086,  P2910 Mistique, CT986 Amethyst Sentiment CT980 Amethyst Collectables CD301 Snow Cardstock

Ink: Versafine Onyx Black Ink, Distress Ink Wilted Violet

Other: Spellbinders Fleur de Elegance, Hero Arts Infinity Oval Dies, JustRite Stampers With Sympathy, Kaisercraft Lilac Rhinestones SB705, Wild Orchid Crafts Flowers

Stay safe and well!
