Bulldogs Quilt

 

Hello everyone! I hope that you are well. Today I am sharing a quilt quilt that I made as a gift for a friend of mine who is a Bulldogs fan. She is there number one fan. While I was shopping last year, there was some NRL merch in the supermarket and there was some Bulldogs merch on the shelf. There was a Bulldogs tea towel. I bought it not sure what I was going to do with it. It sat in a bag for a while.

I used my EQ8 software to calculate the best use of the tea towel fabric and designed the pattern. I used bright blue fabrics that were from Spotlight (not any particular collection) and then coloured in the design using the fabric scans from the fat quarters that I had purchased. Once I was happy I pieced the quilt top together.

The quilting is a meander stitch in a blue thread.

I used a bright blue check for the binding which I really love.

I plan to gift this quilt to her on her birthday. She is such a giving person and I hope she likes the quilt.

It measures 39.5 inches by 48.5 inches.

Moda Love Quilt ~ Nantucket Summer

Hello everyone! I hope that you are well. Today I am sharing a quilt that I made using charm squares. The fabric is Nantucket Summer by Camille Roskelley, which I absolutely love. I spent ages looking for a pattern as this fabric sold out so quickly and I didn't want to waste it as it is hard to find!

I used the Moda Love Charm pattern, which is free on the Moda site. 

Once I had finished my quilt, I used a diagonal grid pattern as my final quilting pattern

I found a coordinating navy fabric from Spotlight which matched the collection. I machine stitched the front and handstitched the back of the binding into position.

I didn't have any yardage from this collection, so I cut up an old duvet cover that I no longer used and used it as my backing fabric. I am so happy happy I kept it for this reason!

Christmas Table Runner and Placemats

 Good morning! I hope that you are well. I am back with more Christmas decor. I made a table runner and matching placemats using the June Taylor, Quilt as You Go kits. The hardest part was selecting my fabrics! I wanted to coordinate with the Christmas tree skirt BUT use up fabric from my stash.

The pattern was really easy to follow. Construction was not not difficult once I had all of my pieces cut and labelled and placed onto design boards.

Now that I have finished these, I might even make something like this again but for my own home!

Mini Quilt

 

Hello everyone! I hope that you are well. As Kaisercraft is having shipping delays with their products, it has given me the opportunity to dabble in some of my other crafting hobbies that I haven't had the time to do in ages...one which is quilting! I have been a fan of Lori Holt for a while and she has a Youtube channel where she shares tutorials for various crafts. She has a series called #sewyourstashseries where she shares quilt blocks that enable you to do just that. This block was a way back into quilting for me...nothing too big and something I could finish.

This is my completed quilt. This is from the Sew Your Stash Series #6 and it was so much fun! I only had to purchase some background fabric (only a little bit..the rest I already had) and I could mix and match as I went.

To complete my quilt, I did some straight line quilting in a grid pattern to finish it off.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Quilt

Hello everyone. It's complete! I pieced this quilt last school holidays and then sent it away to be professionally quilted by Michelle Hawley. It's been in a bag for a term until this week when I had some time to complete the binding. I just love it!

Eric Carle has been a favourite of mine for such a long time. I hold dear memories of his stories and his art in both  professional and personal levels. I was fortunate that Michelle who quilted my quilt had a quilting pattern that was perfect. It's of butterflies and caterpillars. If you look closely at some of the photos, you should see the design.

New quilt on the way

I have been a fan of Eric Carle for many years. As a teacher, I can see why his works are classics. They still have an appeal to children today (an adults too)! I have been collecting Eric Carle fabric for a while and have decided it's time to use them in a quilt.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar has got to be one of my all time favourite childrens books. As I am now on school holidays, I will have time to sew. Am starting on the design today. Stop by later on when its completed.

Pinwheel Quilt

Hi everyone. My last post contained a photo of a quilt which I made that I am extremely proud of. I decided that to follow up on this I would include it as the subject of my next blog post.

I regularly attend craft shows and have purchased quilt kits over the years. This quilt was one such purchase. It  features in the book ‘Gift’ by Rosalie Quinlan.

The majority of the quilt is pinwheel blocks. It also contains some border strips.

I had the quilt professionally machine quilted from edge to edge. 

I have another kit from this book in my stash, waiting to be done. This is the quilt featured on the front cover of the book. It involves a lot of appliqué. I will have to trial it as I am uncertain if I will needle turn or machine appliqué these blocks. This is a project I hope to tackle this year.
