Double Zig Zag Card

Today I am I’m so happy to be sharing a card with you that I have created using papers from the Vintage Spring Basics Collection from Maja Design. I love creating cards for all occasions. This is a double zig zag card that is generic at the moment but can be personalised at later date simply by stamping a sentiment when the occasion arises.

The card closes by the use of this simple band which wraps around the card. I have used a Stampin’ Up! border punch and embellished it with some Green Tara flowers and a lovely Prima Rose. I have also used Memory Box Amira Flourish die to add some elegance.

Here is the inside of the card. It has a series of panels and you can see that I have embellished some. They need to be flat so that the card can close.

The centre panel lifts up where you can record your message and add your stamped sentiment. I edged the outside with some Kaisercraft White Pearls.

All of my papers are inked with Antique Linen Distress Ink. Here I added some Green Tara roses and I used a Martha Stewart leaf punch to create these leaves which I inked with some Prima Dark Bark chalk ink. I also added a Cheery Lynn butterfly and added some Kaisercraft blush pearls. I also used Peaceful Butterfly Wings from Memory Box along with one of my favourite dies Elegant Scrollwork.

I used Heartfelt Creations Timeless Armour dies to create the lattice heart and added used some of my scraps to create this flower. I used my EK Success daisy punches and added a pearl centre.

The image of the girl is so adorable! I played around with one of the Spellbinders Heirloom Legacy dies and cut away the parts that I needed to frame her.

Life Mini Album ~ plus a video~

Hello everyone! Today I would like to share with you a mini album that I have created using The French Garden Kit from Meg's Garden. For this album, I have used the papers that have green tones. I have also used a tutorial by Kathy Orta to create this album.

To embellish my front cover, I used a chipboard piece. I inked it up with gesso. Once dry I used Prima Garden Grass ink and Diamond stickles to alter it. For the frame, I applied some 3D paint and once dry applied several layers of gesso. Once dry, I dry brushed Prima Dark Bark ink around the edges to give it an aged effect.

Inside the album....

This album has some interaction but it also the option to not cover up the beautiful papers. It has two different sized photo mats which can be interchanged throughout the album.

Cut apart/embellishment sheets are also available. It assist with personalising projects.

Enjoy the video walk through of the mini album, where I show the entire album and explain the interaction.

Inspire Canvas ~Maja Design ~ January Mood Board ~

Happy New Year! Hello everyone everyone. I hope that you are well and have been having a safe and festive holiday season with your friends and and family. Today I am very excited to share my first project of the year as a member of Maja Design Creative Team. As you know Maja Design have wonderful papers that are vintage inspired and also are beautiful to create/work with.

This Mood Board is a bit different from how they usually are.. Marie is very fond of making mood boards herself. For every new collection she re-decorates her desk (or more the whole office.. ;-)) into a mood board that gives her the right "feeling".

She found this text online and came up with the idea to challenge everyone else to create their own personal mood board. The theme in the post will be something like "make something beautiful to inspire YOU in your creative work.."

It could be a canvas to hang on the wall, or a scrapbook page to frame, or.. whatever you can come up with... Use warm or cold (or mix) neutrals as a base and then add the colour(s) you find beautiful. Maybe add an image of someone who inspires you, or some wise words that are meaningful to you...

I have created a canvas as my inspiration project for the January Mood Board. I used the neutral tones as my base then added pink as a colour for further inspiration. It is also a colour a love to work with.

It took me a few days to come up with my ideas for my project. This photo is actually a photo from my garden. This is in my backyard. I had been thinking of something to incorporate all of my interests for this project, something that will inspire me in everything. As I am a primary school teacher, literacy is a major interest of mine and a subject that I love to teach. I also find a lot of inspiration from nature. I love flowers. I spend a lot of time in my garden (when I can) and sadly I will have to say goodbye to this garden as I have to move in the next month as my property has been sold :( This photo became my starting point for the elements of my canvas.

I selected this quote as often I create things for a purpose... a card...an album...a quilt. I have a lot of pleasure in giving someone something that I have made just for them! The resin frame is in keeping with garden ornament and it frames the quote perfectly.
The above quote refers to goals that I set. Each year I set creative challenges for myself. Being part of this Creative Team is certainly a dream come true!!
These sewing charms represent my creative abilities. While I don't sew as much as I used to, it represents my paper crafting.

I chose my title to be inspire as I thought it would be the appropriate. It changed a few times but it summarised the canvas and everything that I wanted to be reminded of.

I have always loved vintage clocks. This section is all about time and just a reminder that this inspiration is also timeless.

I haven't shared any techniques with you but rather the meaning of my canvas mood board. I hope that you'll feel inspired to create your own mood board to help you kick start the new year. If you would like to join in the fun, stop by the Maja Design blog and see what the other Creative Team have shared.

The Joys of Christmas

Hello everyone! I am sharing two Christmas cards in this post. After doing a count of my cards, I was just a bit short of what I needed so out came the supplies and I was creating last night. I have been hoarding some Christmas supplies for a while, and I came across this paper pad from Kaisercraft which I have used for both of these cards.

I really wanted to use some of my lacy Spellbinder dies for a card and I'm glad I used it for this one.

Supplies:

Paper: Kaisercraft Just Believe
Ink: Distress Ink Antique Linen, Memento Rich Cocoa
Stamp: Kaisercraft St Nicholas Clear Stamp
Other: Spellbinders A2 Scalloped Borders One, D-Lites Flourish Trim, Martha Stewart Vintage Doily Punch, Seam Binding, Ribbon, Kaisercraft Paper Bloom Sage, Flat Back Pearl

My second card is traditional and vintage. The papers are from the same paper pad.

I used a Bobunny script stamp to create a subtle background before stamping my sentiment. Love how it tuned out. I also spent a bit of time with my floral cluster. Once the elements were glued into place, I dry brushed some Inca Gold onto them to add a festive touch to them and to make them stand out a bit.

Supplies:
Paper: Kaisercraft Just Believe
Stamp: Kaisercraft Turtle Dove Clear Stamp, BoBunny Midnight Frost
Ink: Distress Ink Antique Linen, memento Rhubarb Stalk
Other: Kaisercraft Decorative Die Doilies, Spellbinders Circles Large and Small, Kaisercraft Paper Bloom Cranberry, Martha Stewart Branch Punch, Sullivans Branch Punch, Berry Branch, Vivaldi Leaves, Viva Decor Inca Gold, Vivaldi Leaves, Ribbon, Lace

Merry Christmas!

A Simple Christmas Card

Hello everyone. Things have been a bit quiet here on my blog. To be honest, I've been feeling quite sad lately with the events at Martin Place and haven't been feeling very creative. It's amazing how something so tragic affects people. It is very sad and the people of Sydney are showing their support as well as their grief for the victims. Two of my siblings have been to leave some flowers and I think I may do the same tomorrow....it may help me move forward.

The card I am sharing is quite simple. I just wanted the intricate dies to stand out. Again, I went for a vintage feel.

Supplies:

Paper: Glitz Designs Joyeux Noel

Ink: Distress Ink Vintage Photo

Other: Spellbinders Holiday and 2013 Snowflake Pendant, SU! Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding, Cheery Lynn Merry Christmas Set,  Flat Back Pearls.
