Shadow Box

Hello everyone! I hope that you are well. Today I am sharing a project which features one of the latest collections by Kaisercraft this month which is called Anthology. This collection features vintage inspired botanical images, gorgeous ephemera and stunning vintage papers. Today I am sharing a shadow box that I have created using some of the papers, the collectables and one of the specialty papers in the collection.

To create the actual shadow box, I selected an 8" x 8" canvas and used the reverse side of it. I selected the specialty paper called SHADOW BOX and measured then cut a section that I needed. Using a selection of the Kaisercolour paints, I painted the outside edges of the canvas to match the papers. Once dry, I glued them into place using soft matte gel.

To adhere the shadow box frame to the canvas, I measured a piece of paper from the collection and adhered this to the canvas and then marked onto the paper where the box lines would be. I attached double sided adhesive to some fun foam then measured and cut it into strips. I adhered these strips onto my lines and gradually built up my frames until they were all even with the top of the canvas before adhering the specialty paper layer.

To decorate inside each of the sections, I used some printed tape.  I also used foam dots to add dimension to the collectable pieces.
I added some vintage trinkets from my stash to compliment the collection.

Inking the edges of the papers and the collectables adds to the vintage feel as well as enabling each component to stand out.

The metal corners add a nice finishing touch to the shadow box. These have been discontinued, but you might be able to still buy them at some craft stores.

Shine Like the Stars~ Tips for beginners

Hello everyone! Today on the Kaisercraft blog, the DT are sharing their tips for beginners. If you would like to read more be sure to go over and see what great ideas are being shared. My tip is below...

Sometimes to kick start creativity, a sketch can be a great starting place. It can help to plan a design or when you are at a loss for design inspiration, provide the ‘mojo’ you may need in order to move forward. You can follow the sketch as it is, or rotate it or even replace some of the suggested shapes with ones that best suit your project.

Below is a sketch based on the card that I have created using papers from the Stargazer Paper Pad. This sketch could easily be adapted and be used to create a design for a square card. As you can see, some of the elements have been adapted to suit my project.
