'Tis the Season ~ Christmas Card

Hello everyone! I hope that you are well. Today I am sharing a Christmas card that I have made...last minute. I always think that I have enough made in my stash..but I don't! So I am making cards from products that I have in my stash which is very satisfying.

I am using products from an older Kaisercraft kit that was released a few years ago when I was on their Design Team. It has a vintage feel which is my favourite type of product to create with. I used foliage from my stash to frame the image of Santa and die cut some foliage to add extra dimension. I also inked the edges with some Distress ink.

I really enjoyed creating this card and will make another card using more products from this kit.

Supplies:

Paper: Kaisercraft Christmas Miracle Kit SB104, Christmas Collage and Star Tile, Lace Trimming
Cardstock Spruce CD168, Forest CD114, Kraft

Dies: Memory Box Elegant Scrollwork, Spellbinders Opulent Ovals, Hero Arts Infinity Ovals, Spellbinders Christmas Bird Poinsettia Collection (foliage only used)

Blooms: Petaloo Suga Red Berrys Clusters Green, Anko Poinsettia Flowers, Ultimate Crafts Mixed Primrose Flowers

Other: Kaisercraft Pearls Red SP795, Distress ink Ground Espresso

Please note, a lot of these products are from my stash and I have has for a long time. I hope you find inspiration for your own cardmaking.

Merry and Bright ~ Maja Design Moodboard

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing a layout with you. Each month, Maja Design have a moodboard that inspires you to create. It's great to have something to guide you, especially if you are feeling a little bit bit 'stuck' for an idea yourself!

I used a 2 Craft chippie here and applied LSG embossing powder. Its hard to photograph it but it really does shimmer! On the snowflakes, I used glitter and also some Kaisercraft rhinestones and a sparklet.

I created these baubles using Spellbinders holiday heirloom reflections dies. A also die cut the foliage using Tim Holtz holiday greens and added some Versacolor gold ink on top.

The frame is from Scrapmatts and I embossed it using another LSG embossing powder. I also used some Petaloo flowers and vine throughout. They have some wonderful flowers that are festive. The vine is older, I have been hoarding it for a little while now!

Be sure to stop by the Maja Design blog to see the full details of the moodboard if you wish to play along.

Welcome Christmas ~ Maja Design

Hello everyone! Today I have another Christmas card to share with you. I really am committed to my self imposed target of creating enough Christmas cards for my family and friends. Two down and ....to go! (not sure how many but it always increases each year I am sure!) I am really loving the A Gift For You Collection from Maja Design. The rich tones remind me so much of Christmas!

Over the years, I have collected a number of stamps and I love have the opportunity to use them. This stamp set from Stampin;' Up! is a favourite of mine. I love the feeling it evokes...the excitement of decorating the Christmas tree.
I have used Petaloo flowers and clusters here. They coordinate beautifully with the rich tones of the Maja papers. I have also added some foliage using a Sullivans and Martha Stewart branch punch.

To complete my card I have added other vintage elements such as lace, seam binding and a vintage button...things from my stash.

I wish you well in your efforts to create your Christmas cards. Perhaps you can share some advice or even upload your creations onto the Maja Design Facebook page.

Remember When ~ Maja Design Moodboard ~

Hello everyone! Today I have a layout to share with you. Each month, Maja Design has an moodboard to inspire you to create a project that is related to a theme.

And here’s a little reminder of what our mood boards are used for…
Definition mood board – n
a board used by designers on which samples of various colours and textures are mounted to help in deciding which elements complement each other
We are using mood boards for our challenges. We truly believe in creativity and art at Maja Design. You are free to interpret the mood boards in any way you’d like. They are supposed to set you in an inspirational mood without too much controlling. We would like you to be inspired by the poems, words and photos. They are not given rules, they are just there as inspiration. They are all inspired by a Maja collection, but you are free to use any Maja papers you’d like as long as they follow the colour scheme. We highly encourage you to follow the theme of the mood board as well.

Here is the September Moodboard

I chose to use a photo from a trip I went on a few years ago to Thailand and Singapore. I am pictured at the top of the Marina Sands Hotel (I am terrified of heights...this was as close to the edge as I was going!) It was an amazing trip. I had to battle my fears quite a lot....you only live once! This trip was in the Christmas holidays right before school resumed (I am a teacher) so I needed to make the most of every momenet.

Here are some close ups..

#happydays ~Maja Design~

Hello everyone!Today I have a layout that I have created using papers from a few collections, Vintage Summer and Life by The Sea. I also used the butterflies from Vintage Spring Basics as embellishments. I used the colours from my photo to determine my papers and went from there.

I used a 2 Crafty chipboard frame and altered it using walnut stain and faded jeans distress inks. The flowers are a combination of Green Tara, Petaloo and Prima flowers which all vary in shades of blue. The background (right) I used antique linen distress ink and The Crafters Workshop Mini Chickenwire reversed stencil to add some texture.

I recently bought a Memory Box banner die called Banner Parade. I die cut some papers from Life By the Sea and alternated them to create this fun banner. I applied some foam tape to each to add dimension.

Hashtags are everywhere these days and I used a chipboard saying from Dusty Attic and played around with it using Walnut Stain and Distress Stain and also Faded Jeans Distress ink to create an ombre effect.

This pennant was a last minute addition to my layout. It was a blank area that just needed something and banners are a great way to fill up a space. I added some hearts which were some left overs .....nothing goes to waste!
